This project provided tailored, in-depth advice about smart meters. Outreach activities included over 60 public events, phone-line advice, and online engagement through our website and social media. These activities enabled us to reach over 950 households.

For this project we worked with Newport City Council and Monmouthshire Council to manage the installation of cavity-wall and loft insulation in 12,000 social housing properties.

Working in partnership with private investors, this scheme provided householders with free solar electricity. System installation costs for investors were recovered through the solar Feed-in-Tariff.

Transition Chepstow

For this project we supported Chepstow’s Transition Town energy group by providing advice and access to grant funding for the installation of home insulation.

 

 


Get Smart With St Athanst-athan

For this project we worked with SWALEC on an electricity demand reduction programme with residents in the village of St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan. We helped them to achieve an annual reduction of 4.6%.

The Keep Well This Winter campaign involved working with the Wales Public Health Service to provide targeted advice and support for vulnerable households and the over 60s.

The Business 5000 project worked with the local businesses to promote home energy-saving to their employees. In addition to providing energy-saving tips and advice, we assisted 5000 households to help insulate their homes, contributing to an estimated saving of £750,000 a year and a reduction of 10,000 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions.

The Envirokids project aimed to educate school children on sustainability, and how to use energy and other resources efficiently. The programme involved visits to over 150 schools, which enabled us to talk to over 6000 pupils about living sustainable lifestyles.

Health Through Warmth

This project aimed to promote the benefits of energy efficient homes to health professional in the Vale of Glamorgan. The project also enabled vulnerable patients to be referred to the scheme for physical energy efficiency installations.

Funded by the Energy Saving Trust, for this project we developed the Local Authority Support Programme, which provided support for developing strategies to tackle climate change.

We became a member of the Sustainable Energy Wales network. We were responsible for supporting the development and take-up of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies in households, communities, and micro-businesses across South East Wales.

Working in partnership with the Centre for Alternative Technology and other energy agencies, we provided advice, information and access to grants for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for householders and businesses.

For this project –which was funded by National Energy Action — we assisted 8 local authorities to prepare Affordable Warmth strategies to tackle fuel poverty.

This project involved distributing 6000 low energy lightbulbs to Newport residents, providing an estimated annual electricity savings worth £576,000.

The Safe and Sound project involved working with South Wales Fire Service and Trading Standards to encourage household energy efficiency and reduce people’s use of outdated electric blankets and the associated fire risk.
