Here’s some of my face.

Tell us how you got here:

I moved to the UK in May 2006 after growing up in Delaware and going to university in Texas so it was quite a culture shock! Employment eluded me for the first few months I was here, but as luck would have it, my in-laws organised a post-wedding party for me and my husband and that’s where I met Andrew David. We started talking about my fruitless job search and it turned out that the Energy Agency needed an admin assistant. I applied and thankfully got the job. I’ve seen this organisation evolve and my role has grown exponentially over the last ten years.

What do you like most about your job?

I love my job. When I walk into the office, I’m happy to be here. And that’s all down to my colleagues and director. I have the privilege of working with spectacular people. We’re a small organisation, very small in fact, and we are very organised. I’m so proud of this and our team and everything we’ve accomplished together.

If you could change anything about your job, what would it be?

I do find the government grant schemes quiet frustrating at times but without going into a political diatribe, I’ll be diplomatic and say more needs to be done to ensure that those most in need have access to grant funding. Grants for energy efficiency measures should never be impacted by party politics.

How do you think your colleagues see you?

Very American. Well, that and possibly a little bit of a control freak. But I’m always willing to help others – this place thrives on teamwork. 🙂

We have a great view of Newport from our office -what is your favourite view from the office windows?

The castle ruins. When my mom visited the first time, she saw them as we were on the train to Cardiff and she commented ‘oh that’s beautiful’. Not something I ever associated with the castle but seeing it from her eyes reminded me that it is pretty special to see this from my desk every day. Thanks, Mom! 😉
